Tony Costa

Artist Statement

The current exhibition is based on an area 40km north of Mudgee, an area which I
have been visiting for the last 5 years.
With all subjects, first you have the appearance and then you have the energy
within that appearance. This is what I try to trap.
I work intuitively, sacrificing detail along the way. I find this way of working exhilarating.
My aim is to transcend appearances - discovering new pictorial truths.
