ARTIST STATEMENT

The passage/corridor in an undefined space is suggestive of a way through difficult or uncertain
times. Passages of light in city corridors and interiors, uncertain boundaries and barriers in architectural
forms came to represent transition and change.

Rope, was initially used as a way to represent the flow of time, a potentially endless linear form in which
knots in the rope mark moments/landmarks in this flow, or more specifically in the expanse of one
person's lifetime. The final body of work is an amalgamation of ideas based around the histories,
function and psychological associations of rope.
