Ishbel Morag M. Miller

Artist Statement

I am interested in light and its effect on colour - shadows, streams of light across grass or on objects, or light through trees, or through a window. All this brightening up our domestic and natural world. Nature enhancing our
man-made world of severe block shapes, straight poles and regular lines by casting abstract shapes and altering and diversifying colour into many shades and hues - like some naughty school kid throwing paint around, messing everything up.

We try to control nature with paths and nicely cut bushes and flower beds and managed areas of grass, but nature again reclaims the right to soften that harshness, adding long irregular patches of dirty grey or crisp lime green, or yellow green, an area of dappled dark purplely blue on an orange brown roof, or a sprinkle of bright yellow on a generally green small clump of foliage, all breaking up our contrived order.
