Lotte Schwerdtfeger
The vase & flower show III
Lotte works from Tarndanya/Adelaide where she has been an associate maker at the highly regarded JamFactory.
With a materiality led practice, Lotte is delighted by the alchemical and elemental processes of ceramics. She hand builds, coiling and pinching both functional, sculptural and installation work. References to natural forms and processes, utilitarian objects and cultural artifacts, arise from Lotte’s interest in anthropology, symbolism and ritual. She is intrigued by the role of objects that continue to define and connect human and nonhuman experiences.
‘I’m interested in deep time, uncertainty and the secret lives of objects, hoping to represent a spark of narrative in a piece or patinaed surface.’
Lotte is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts; regularly working on commission, collaborative projects and gallery exhibitions. Where possible all materials are salvaged,
